Southern Highlands NSW NDIS Program Recap (April 2026)

A Week of Adventure in the Southern Highlands Our Southern Highlands kids program at Camp Wombaroo was packed with adventure, laughter, and new experiences from start to finish. Set on beautiful Gundungurra Country, children spent four days exploring nature, trying new activities, and building friendships in a safe and supportive environment. Starting the Journey Together The program began with a fun stop at Koshigaya Park, where kids played games, shared lunch, and got to know each other before heading into camp. This relaxed start helped everyone settle in, feel comfortable, and ease into the adventure ahead. Adventure, Nature & Trying New Things Day 2 was all about excitement and challenge. The high ropes course was a standout moment, with children encouraging each other as they climbed, balanced, and stepped outside their comfort zones with support. Bush craft activities followed, giving kids hands-on fun in nature — working together, problem-solving, and learning new outdoor skills. A visit to Fitzroy Falls added a calm nature walk experience, with incredible views and time to explore the bush. Connection Through Fun Experiences One of the highlights of the week was the NSW Rail Museum visit đźš‚ The steam train ride brought lots of excitement and curiosity, with kids sharing the experience together and enjoying something completely different. Back at camp, pizza making, games, and group activities created plenty of laughter and relaxed social time. Learning Happens Naturally Across the week, children built important skills without even realising it, including: teamwork during group activities confidence through trying new challenges communication with peers and staff independence in daily routines These moments happened naturally through fun, structured experiences. A Calm & Proud Finish The final day included a peaceful walk along Cave Creek Walking Track, giving kids time to enjoy nature and reflect on their week. We wrapped up with an awards session celebrating effort, bravery, kindness, and participation — every child had something to be proud of. Participants Feedback Sharon is a wonderful leader and exceptionally caring. Kate, guardian My 8 year old son has just come back from the Southern Highlands camp with Access Adventure Club and he absolutely loved it. From the moment I picked him up yesterday, he hasn’t stopped talking about everything he did and is already asking when I can book him in for the next one.
